Maine puffins

This is a shout out to all bird watchers, photographers and anyone who loves Maine and being outdoors.  Here are several places that offer excellent birding, boating, hiking and trail walking opportunities.

Deer Isle hosts the Wings, Waves and Woods Festival from May 20th – 22nd.  It’s a weekend full of eagle watching, puffins and pelagic boat trips, bird walks and lectures.

The Downeast Spring Birding Festival, May 27th – 30th, takes place in the Cobscook Bay region.  You can hike in the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge; take coastal boat trips, kayak tours and birding workshops.

Acadia National Park’s Otter Cliffs through to Sicur de Monts Spring is prime birding territory. The Acadia Birding Festival happens here from June 2nd – 5th.  There will be boat trips offering bird and whale spotting and field trips to nature preserves and gardens.

About franfolsom

I write about travel. Any kind of travel, from kayaking in New Brunswick to museum going in Boston. It's what I love to do. And, no, I certainly don't do it for the money. I would starve if that were the case. I do it because I love to write, and it's a great opportunity to meet new people.
